Legal aid harassment lawyer

Does Cohen Davis offer legal aid?

We understand that legal costs can be a significant concern. However, our firm does not operate under Legal Aid. The funding provided through Legal Aid is not sufficient to support the complex work involved in harassment or defamation cases. This funding gap makes Legal Aid an unviable path for the kind of representation we typically provide. If you believe you may qualify for Legal Aid, we suggest that you visit the Law Society’s Find a Solicitor page, where you can locate a solicitor who practises under Legal Aid arrangements.

Why legal aid isn’t a practical option

Legal Aid funds are limited and highly restricted in scope. They rarely cover the detailed evidence-gathering, court representation and strategic advice required for online harassment and defamation cases. In our experience, proceeding under Legal Aid often leaves matters underfunded and unresolved due to financial constraints.

What this means for you

While we do not offer Legal Aid-funded representation, we remain committed to helping you find the right support. If you already have a barrister assigned through Advocate, we are happy to discuss working alongside them under other funding arrangements. We’ll always be straightforward in explaining the likely costs involved and will only proceed if we believe you can realistically achieve a successful outcome.
